Tech Ilford 2019
The Tech Ilford 2019 summer event at Redbridge Central Library, was an impressive event, the day went really well. It was a chance to unlock the creative potential of all the children who came along on the day and to pique their interest in 3D digital design, 3D printing and maker-Craft, giving them a chance to have a go at the various tech and maker-craft activities available on the day.
Organised by Maria Reguera, Development Librarian: Digital Services & Innovation for Vision, Redbridge Culture and Leisure. We were delighted to be invited to participate at this years event.
The theme this year was ALIENS so children were encouraged to make clay and paper craft aliens. Their clay creations were 3D scanned and put into a digital alien landscape.
They also had the opportunity to have a go at 3D paper crafting techniques, making 3D paper aliens and alien bugs on sticks. In addition, there were art activities where the kids could draw an alien, pulling on folded paper to reveal its toothy grin.
All the kids joined in with the different maker-craft and digital tech activities on the day and really seemed to enjoy themselves. By the end of the day, there were more digitised clay aliens and Paper moon bugs than you could shake a stick at!
Plus mementoes to take home such as 3D printed name tags.
